Before 1850, the Wutchumma (Yokuts) Indians lived in Woodlake Valley and their descendants still live there today. A map shows a pioneer trek in 1857 from Missouri to Woodlake’s first settlement Stringtown. Travel Woodlake’s history through exhibits and see a Bible and a Concert Roller Organ Box from the 1800’s. Learn about 1912 printing press and 1926 Pageant, where 10,000 people attended. Displayed is a WWII parachute wedding dress. Featured are town’s people like Courtney McCracken and Carl Peden who flew Air Force One. Some pioneer families still live in Woodlake.
